- Variable or two-stage switching elements
- Control concept: wired connection or radio control
Modular design for high flexibility
Two designs
For the first time, a rope hoist system gives you the choice of a C-design or co-axial design with one basic technology. The C-design excels in crane applications thanks to its compact configuration and reduced approach dimensions. The co-axial variant can be flexibly integrated into virtually any construction and, therefore, is ideally suited to a wide variety of applications in the plant and mechanical engineering sectors as well as for cranes. Both designs have the same connection dimensions, interfaces and electric components and have identical rope reeving arrangements.
Designs
Application types
Thanks to its modular design, the DMR rope hoist is highly versatile. The foot-mounted hoist is the optimum match for stationary applications and can be easily integrated into special crabs. As a low-headroom travelling hoist, double-rail crab or standard-headroom travelling hoist, DMR is also the ideal solution for crane processes. A further benefit: all loads can be positioned carefully and with minimum sway thanks to the frequency inverter-controlled cross-travel motor.
More performance to meet your needs
The basic version of the DMR rope hoist already offers flexibility for a wide range of applications. Many additional functions enable the new Demag product to be tailored to meet all customer requirements in terms of performance, ease of control and cost-effective operation in full.
Even better efficiency
Hoist inverter and ProHub
A hoist inverter offers optimum utilisation of the motor’s output and enables loads to be positioned even more precisely thanks to variable speed control. It can be used to boost lifting speeds by up to 50 per cent with the ProHub function depending on the load.
Even better traction
Double-wheel DualDrive (Plus)
Our double-wheel DualDrive provides for even better traction on monorail travelling hoists, for example in outdoor applications. In addition, a second travel drive can be installed quickly and easily thanks to its predefined mounting position.
Even more flexibility
DRC D3 radio control
The high-performance DRC D3 radio control system has an impressive long range and allows up to 40 radio systems to be operated in close proximity to each other. Up to three transmitters can be paired with the system and control can be simply transferred at the press of a button, if required. Integrated rechargeable batteries and power management enable uninterrupted operation for up to five days.
Even better overview
Demag StatusBoard
Demag StatusBoard not only informs you about the weight of the given load, but also shows all relevant operating data and the system status. The colour display shows information on multiple lines and can also be easily read at a longer distance.
Even better accuracy
F10 mechanical microspeed unit
If required, our F10 drive with a mechanical microspeed unit can be used with the co-axial design. It helps loads to be positioned even more precisely thanks to two separate conical-rotor motors for the main and creep lifting motions. The motors offer outstanding braking capacity as well as automatic braking if the power drops or the motor is switched off, for example.
Smart solutions for tomorrow’s needs
Our modular design also enables us to offer you exactly the control system that you need for your Demag DMR rope hoist. Choose between three control systems. If required, we can already prepare your equipment for future production and logistics processes: our innovative SafeControl system turns your rope hoist into a smart solution for transparency, safety and reliability.
Conventional contactor control
DMR modular rope hoists already provide for reliable operation with tried-and-tested contactor control. Contactor control can be easily maintained and is available with various control voltages.
Customer’s own control system
The DMR rope hoist is also prepared for controls provided by the customer, which you can simply integrate via plug & play. If required, you can also receive the Demag electric enclosure with various cable unions for your solution.
Slack-rope monitoring
Continuous monitoring of the rope tension: the hoist drive automatically switches off when the load has been lowered to its target position.
Target positioning
Loads can be automatically transported to a selected target position as long as the crane operator presses the corresponding button on the radio control.
Tandem operation
Loads can be safely transported by two DMR rope hoists via a single control unit. Two cranes with up to four rope hoists can also be synchronised.
By-pass control
Areas to be blocked for the travelling hoist can be specified. In this way, you can safely by-pass high parts of machinery or zones that are out of bounds.
Remote diagnosis in real time
Keep an overview of all DMR rope hoists at any time – even if you are away on a business trip. Our innovative Demag StatusControl remote access system supplies all relevant operating data in real time, analyses them and processes them for direct access – also for your mobile device. Using this system, you can schedule maintenance work, as required. Demag StatusControl also enables you to monitor complete crane systems in various production facilities and at different locations.
Area-specific load reduction
Areas can be defined which the travelling hoist may only enter if the load does not exceed a reference value. This reduces the load on the runway and building structure – especially when two or more cranes operate on one runway.

Technical excellence down to the last detail
As for all Demag products, development of our DMR modular rope hoist also focussed on our customers’ needs. Flexibility and productivity, as well as its long service life and cost-effective operation are key characteristics of our DMR. Consequently, the impressive modular rope hoist concept also offers sophisticated technical details.
Hoist motor
High performance and precision
The DMR rope hoist drive employs a high-performance cylindrical-rotor motor to ensure precise lifting and lowering motions. It achieves motor outputs of up to 45 kilowatts. The rope hoist in co-axial design positions loads with even greater precision with its optional F10 microspeed unit. The drive consists of two separate conical-rotor motors for the main and creep lifting motions. The motors offer outstanding braking capacity as well as automatic braking if the power drops or the motor is switched off. All motor cables feature plug-and-socket connections for plug-&-play operation.
Frequency-controlled or pole-changing operation
You also have a choice of motors: hoist motors for variable speeds or two-stage speeds.
Coupling
Long service life and ease of maintenance
The coupling between the motor and gearbox absorbs sudden motor forces for a longer rope hoist service life. In addition, DMR can be easily retrofitted with a rotary encoder. If the motor needs to be changed, the gearbox oil does not have to be drained.
Gearbox
Efficient oil lubrication
The DMR gearbox provides for long maintenance intervals thanks to its efficient oil lubrication. Its enclosed design offers protection against external factors. DMR also requires 30 percent less oil.
Rope drum
Low wearing and versatile
The rope guide is made of tough, acid-resistant plastic and boasts extremely low wear. The rope can accommodate inclined pull up to an angle of 4 degrees without touching the rope guide.
Two-piece protection
The cover for the rope drum consists of two parts. All rope hoists are supplied with vertical panels to protect the drum as standard. If required, they can also be supplied with a horizontal cover for the rope drum.
Housing
Light-weight and tough design
The housing of DMR hoist unit sizes 3, 5, 10 and 16 weighs much less than those of previous models. Thanks to high-quality powder coating, which provides optimum protection against corrosion, all DMR rope hoists can also be operated in aggressive environments.
Bottom block
Safety and low wear
Larger rope sheaves in the top and bottom blocks significantly reduce rope wear also over longer periods of operation. The two-piece hand guard with moving plastic elements protects the operator against accidental contact. If necessary, it also allows wearing parts to be quickly replaced without the need to remove the rope. Two handle recesses make it easier to handle and guide the bottom block.
Control
Radio control: high performance
We also offer our customers maximum flexibility and freedom of choice for their specific control needs. Our high-performance DRC D3 radio control system permits maximum freedom of movement and ease of control. The new generation of radio transmitters can be used for up to five days of uninterrupted operation. Three transmitters can be paired with each receiver for simple transfer of control at the press of a button. Up to 40 systems from our D3 generation of radio controls can be operated in close proximity to each other without any mutual interference. High safety standards are satisfied by frequency hopping and listen-before-talk operation.
Wired connection and ergonomic
For control from the ground, the DMR rope hoist works with two control units – depending on the control system electric equipment. For use with our Demag SafeControl smart control system, our DSE 10R control pendant provides for safe and reliable control of the rope hoist and facilitates fatigue-free operation thanks to its ergonomic design. Rope hoists that have contactor controls are operated via Demag DST control pendants.
Travelling hoist
Smooth frequency inverter control
DMR travelling hoists are fitted with frequency inverter-controlled cross-travel motors as standard and travel with variable speeds from 3 to 30 m/min. They offer precise positioning and smooth travel that is kind to the runway – supported by high-strength steel travel wheels and guide rollers. If required, we can also supply DMR low-headroom and standard-headroom travelling rope hoists and double-rail crabs with two-stage travel speeds.
Lighter and more versatile
The DMR trolley is a compact, light-weight unit thanks to the use of high-performance pressure rollers. DMR rope hoists can also be supplied with counterweights, as required.
Electric equipment housing
Compact and spacious
All control elements are accommodated in our compact Demag electric equipment housing. Despite its compact design, it still offers enough space for integration of our Demag StatusControl remote diagnosis system and our DRC D3 radio control system at any time. Two mounting positions are prepared for installation of the housing on the DMR rope hoist. Practical plug-in connections enable limit switches to be fitted just as easily as the cabling and wiring.
