Demag Research and Business Factory
Innovation from Wetter. Since 1819.
Demag Cranes & Components GmbH has been developing innovative solutions for material handling since it was founded in 1819 and for more than 200 years. Research and development is an integral part of Demag’s brand promise to ensure the core values of performance, safety and reliability with continuous optimisations.
Smart material flow for the factory of the future
These core values and the challenges of the factory of the future must be effectively integrated with the needs of employees, as well as with machines and components, to establish a foundation for targeted communication. In 2019, Demag created generous office and testing space for the Research & Business Factory team. Since then, it has been possible to actively implement technological research approaches in demonstrators and to validate them. Over an area of 300 m², we work with international consortium partners on a wide range of research challenges.
In addition to participating in research projects, Demag is also involved in the specification of the OPC UA Companion Profile for industrial cranes and hoists as well as in the FEM “Assistance systems for cranes and hoists” and WCM “Wireless Communication for Machines” committees. Demag is also a member of Umati and 5G ACIA.
Demag is one of the companies shaping Industry 4.0 and is actively working on solutions for intelligent material flow in modern factories.
Demag Research and Business Factory
Since 2017, the Research and Business Factory team has been developing new ideas for the Group for the optimisation of material flow, handling and processes with a focus on the modular Demag KBK light crane system, Demag slewing jib cranes, Demag hoists and Demag chain hoists.
The engineers and project managers are networked nationally and internationally with other companies and research institutions in order to advance state-funded and internal research projects. The focus is clearly on the business benefits of the projects. The design and validation of ideas through test setups occurs directly alongside production at the Wetter site, and the implementation of demonstrators can be transitioned from theory to practice at any time.
Collaborations with universities, colleges and other research institutes as well as with other companies are welcome at any time. In addition, research challenges offer very interesting content for a wide range of intern projects and bachelor’s and master’s theses.
Get in touch – we're always happy to discuss potential projects.
