Demag FSS: Crane system and supporting structure from a single source

Wetter (Ruhr), March 2026 – With the new Free Standin Structure (FSS), Demag is now offering its partners a standardised and fully calculated supporting structure for KBK light crane systems and monorails. This provides Demag customers with a fast, clearly defined solution from a single source – including a complete structural analysis certificate – so that they can implement free-standing complete systems without any additional engineering or coordination effort. The FSS construction is designed to comply with standards and is ideal for locations without load-bearing building structures.

Fast project processing for Demag customers – without external statics and without special design

The new Demag FSS enables customers to install Demag KBK systems regardless of hall statics or ceiling load-bearing capacity. The entire load-bearing structure has already been fully calculated, designed in accordance with European rules and the Machinery Directive and documented including structural analysis. This eliminates the usual expense for Demag partners with external steel fabricators, special statics or individual constructions. Projects can be planned and implemented much faster.

Modular system – immediately available

The FSS system comprises two basic designs – portals and cantilever supports – which can be flexibly combined and supplemented by longitudinal beams if required.
It is suitable for crane girder lengths of up to 8,000 mm and offers support heights of up to 6,500 mm. It is designed for all steel and aluminium profiles of the Demag KBK system. Fastening is via chemical composite anchors – ideal for industrial interiors and dynamic loads.

Easy to configure – directly in the Demag Designer

Demag partners configure the FSS in the Demag Designer, which already stores all variants in a standardised manner. After selecting the KBK system, suitable FSS structures with different heights and designs are available – quickly, plausibly and safely.

Demag customers then have two options for implementation:

Engineering package: Provision of a complete drawing package including parts lists – the partners can use it to manufacture the steel structure themselves or provide it locally.
Complete package: Delivery of the complete steel construction together with the associated KBK system ex works.

Demag thus offers customers a standardised end-to-end solution that does not require interface risks and drastically reduces planning times.
