Secure load handling

New crane technology for a company steeped in tradition

EKKE single-girder crane with DMR supports load handling to repair agricultural machinery

Customer

Doser Land- und Gartentechnik GmbH in Aichstetten; Germany boasts centuries of expertise in agricultural and garden equipment. Now in its seventh generation, the family business has remained a reliable partner for machinery needs throughout its eventful history. Machinery has been sold, hired out and repaired from day one.
The first mechanical workshop was built in 1887. Oil production had already commenced in 1725. In the 1980s, the public broadcaster ARD used the well-preserved oil mill for a documentary.
To support its expansion and modernisation, the company moved into a newly built workshop and warehouse with adjoining sales and service premises.

Requirement

Doser employees work with heavy components for agricultural machinery in the modern workshop and storage facility, and need to transport these across the entire building area. An ergonomic and safe solution was needed to support handling of these loads.

Solution

An EKKE single-girder crane with DMR rope hoist supports the staff in their daily work. With a load capacity of up to 5 t, even smaller agricultural machinery models can be transported. Since the building is split into various working areas, the DRC-10 radio control system simplifies crane control and enables the crane operator to maintain a safe distance to the load at all times.

The smart SafeControl system monitors and ensures safe operation of the crane. The two-stage cut-off prevents the crane from colliding with the limit stops. When the first limit switch is reached, the long-travel speed switches to creep speed. Once the second limit switch is reached, the long-travel drive is switched off, gently braking the travel motion. Load sway, which can cause injuries and damage, is prevented electronically.

Special features

The smart SafeControl system offers maximum safety in crane operation.
The long-travel limit switches and safety control system back up the crane operator electronically, avoiding any unintentional damage in the crane’s operating environment.
The DRC-10 radio transmitter facilitates ergonomic control within a larger radius of the crane, making daily tasks easier for the crane operator.
