Demag V-type crane impresses Rosen Group

  • Technology group employs innovative crane
  • State-of-the-art design scores for customer presentations
  • Low deadweight, long service life, less oscillation

The Demag V-type crane is also impressive in regular operation: Rosen Group, a technology group that is active all over the world, is highly pleased with its investment after some nine months of operation with the crane. “We also use the workshop as a showroom for presentations to customers”, explains Carsten Heinks. “That is why we want to demonstrate that we work with state-of-the-art engineering.” The design of the Demag V-type crane, which has already won several design awards, also contributes towards this goal. For example, the innovative crane girder design has received the iF Design Award, the Red Dot Award and the “Best of” of Industriepreis 2015. In addition, the crane has been nominated for the German Design Award 2016.

The Rosen Group was also impressed by the technical benefits offered by the Demag V-type crane. “Our staff particularly like the smooth start-up characteristics of the crane”, reports Carsten Heinks. Both the cross-travel and hoist drives are equipped with frequency inverters. In addition, the average deadweight of the Demag V-type crane is 17 per cent lower than comparable cranes with box-section girders and it has a long service life with more than 500,000 changes of load. Thanks to tapered diaphragm joints at load nodes as well as the overall design of the girder, the Demag V-type crane achieves oscillation characteristics that are reduced by up to 30 per cent.

Overhead travelling crane for converting test equipment
The Rosen Group operates a Demag V-type single-girder overhead travelling crane in its newly built workshop in Lingen (Ems) in Lower Saxony, Germany. The Rosen Group tests and develops its flow meters in the workshop. To do this work, the company installed a state-of-the-art test facility covering an area of more than 1,000 square metres. The Demag V-type crane is used for regularly transporting test rigs and measuring equipment that weighs up to 10 tons.

The Demag V-type crane for the Rosen Group was the first type 6. “We needed the type 6 for the largest possible lifting height, which can be adapted to match the shape of the building”, explains Carsten Heinks. For this variant, the side connection of the crane girder can be freely selected at any point between its upper and lower edges with relation to the crane runway. Type 6 is now also available as a standard option for the Demag V-type crane.
