REACH EU Chemicals Directive |
The new REACH chemicals regulation 1907/2006/EC entered into force on 1 June 2007.
REACH stands for the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical substances. It is an EU regulation on chemical substances that entered into force on 1 July 2007. As an EU regulation, REACH is equally and directly applicable in all member states. REACH fundamentally harmonises and simplifies previous chemical substances legislation.
The REACH system is based on the principle of giving responsibility to industry. According to the principle of "no data, no market", only chemical substances that have been pre-registered may be marketed in the scope in which it applies. Every manufacturer or importer who wants to market their substances that fall in the scope of REACH must have their own registration numbers for the substances. Previous legislation continues to apply for a year after REACH enters into force. When this period has elapsed, ECHA, an agency in Helsinki, will be fully operational. ECHA will be mainly responsible for the organisation and monitoring of the REACH process.
The six-month pre-registration deadline for certain substances had been in force since 1 June 2008. Demag Cranes & Components GmbH can confirm that all substances supplied to Demag Cranes & Components GmbH have been pre-registered according to (EC) Regulation no. 1907/2006 (REACH) since 1 December 2008.
Demag Cranes & Components GmbH ensures that all products made by Demag Cranes & Components will be manufactured to the same level of quality in future.
