Demag Cranes & Components at Husum WindEnergy 2010

Product solutions for spare parts supply at the speed of the wind will be presented by Demag Cranes & Components at Husum WindEnergy, the leading international exhibition of the wind energy industry, from 21 to 25 September 2010. The company will show the DC-Wind chain hoist, which is specially designed to meet the needs of the wind energy industry, in Hall 5, Stand 5A12.

When maintenance work needs to be carried out at a wind energy installation, for example on the generator, gearbox or brake, the spare parts have to be lifted up to the nacelle on the outside to heights of some 100 metres or more. The additional time required to transport the material, which extends the time in which the installation is at standstill, shows that the efficiency of wind energy installations not only depends on their rated output and the strength of the wind, but also on the maintenance concept. For this reason, service operations need to be completed quickly, reliably and as conveniently as possible. Indeed, the high efficiency of wind energy installations requires virtually continuous availability. For this reason, Demag Cranes & Components has developed the DC-Wind chain hoist, which is designed precisely to meet the needs of the wind energy industry. It accelerates the supply of tools and spare parts and is consequently a decisive factor to ensure that maintenance periods and standstill times are kept to a minimum.

DC-Wind hoists are largely developed on the basis of the proven DC-Pro chain hoist design. Available in four sizes and featuring a maximum hook path of 180 metres, the chain hoist can quickly lift spare parts, equipment and tools weighing up to 1,500 kilograms into the nacelles of wind energy installations. The compact dimensions resulting from the low-headroom design of the travelling hoist make it possible to install the unit in a minimum of space in virtually any nacelle. Further standard features of the user-friendly DC-Wind chain hoist include operating limit switches for the highest and lowest hook positions as well as a high main lifting speed and a gentle creep lifting speed. The locking device, which is fitted as standard, secures the trolley against any unwanted travel caused by movements of the wind turbine.

Demag Cranes & Components offers the DC-Wind with various chain collector bags, or alternatively the chain can be led through a tube into a separate container.
In addition, the DC-Wind can be supplied in various designs to suit the given climatic conditions. These include applications in offshore wind power plants, as cold climate version and for installation sites at great heights.
