DR rope hoist series for higher performance
Demag Cranes & Components has extended its DR rope hoist series by increasing two load capacities. The company presents a rope hoist type DR 5 which can lift loads up to 6.3 t. The DR 10 series is completed by the load capacity up to 12.5 t. Like the DR series already established in the market, the DR rope hoists equipped with the CanBus technology feature comprehensive control and diagnosis tools as standard equipment . The hoist units are additionally equipped with standardised interfaces providing for intelligent functions which can also be used in existing crane installations with conventional electrical equipment.
Demag Cranes & Components has met the requirements for safety and efficiency by using the CanBus technology for the DR rope hoist series. The company was the first supplier who defined this technology as standard for series hoist units. Apart from safe internal data and signal transmission, the DR rope hoist features a wide range of monitoring and diagnosis functions. The load spectrum recorder which permanently calculates the remaining safe working period of the hoist unit is integrated in the control system. The operating statuses are permanently monitored and recorded, so that specific preventive maintenance and repair are possible. Thus relevant parameters can be displayed to the operator of the installation on the standard display of the cable-connected control pendant or the radio control. This reduces possible downtimes and increases the efficient use of rope hoists with regard to an optimised life-cycle management.
Since a standardised interface is made available as standard equipment of the DR rope hoist, it can also be integrated in crane installations with conventional electrical equipment. In this case all monitoring functions of the rope hoist remain completely available. This makes it much easier to determine the remaining safe working period of the rope hoist or to plan annual maintenance.
The design of the electrical equipment with printed circuit boards provides for easy maintenance and space-saving installation of the cross-travel inverter and the braking resistor as standard component in the electrical equipment box. The owner of the installation benefits from the compact design of the DR rope hoist series which uses the available space at its best.
Thus possible applications of the DR rope hoist series go beyond the use in a crane installation:
The DR rope hoist series can be used as double-rail crab in the higher load capacity range up to 50 t.
At parallel or tandem operation of two crabs, data exchange of information relevant for safety, such as overload or limit switch information is ensured between the two units as a standard feature.
- Tailor-made installations beyond crane applications can be implemented with the foot-mounted FDR variant with a load capacity of up to 12.5 t. Four mounting positions can be combined with different variants of rope lead-offs thus providing a wide variety of applications.
The two new rope hoist sizes for 6.3 t and 12.5 t are already integrated in the system and completely included in the Demag documentation, so that online configuration via the web-based Hoist Designer planning tool is possible. Since double-crab operation is completely integrated in the system and the control concept is based on CanBus, safety of planning and operation is increased.
