The FDR foot-mounted hoist is a consistent further development in line with market requirements of the DR electric rope hoist, which was originally designed as a travelling hoist for standard cranes. The FDR achieves high lifting speeds, however, for precise positioning it features two lifting speeds as standard.
With FEM classifications from 1Am to 4m, Demag has also ensured that the foot hoist will enjoy a long service life. The FDR is designed for 20% more continuous hours of operation under full load, thereby exceeding the usual value found in the market, e.g. FEM 2m, by 300 hours. Due to the higher design rating, owners also benefit from greater availability, since repairs or general overhauls do not have to be performed until a later date, which ultimately results in greater efficiency.
The worldwide market launch of the foot hoist will commence in January 2007 with the three FDR3, FDR5 and FDR10 sizes, each of which are available with various drum lengths and corresponding hook paths. For a 4/1 reeving arrangement, the load capacities are 3.2, five and ten tonnes. In addition, a 6.3 t version of the DR5 and a 12.5 t version of the DR10 are available, each in class 1Am.
With this universal hoist unit, Demag Cranes & Components also aims to achieve greater market penetration, since the DR rope hoist range now enables solutions to be implemented which until now were limited to the predecessor DH range. Moreover, the foot-mounted hoist is also a very simple and, therefore, inexpensive solution for refurbishment requirements. Thanks to the attached reeving components for 2/1, 4/1 and 4/2 arrangements, it can be easily integrated into existing steel superstructures.
A further benefit of the foot-mounted hoist is its standard integrated monitoring system, which enables individual operating parameters of the hoist to be read, also by means of remote diagnostics. Examples of these features are the error memory, the load spectrum recorder, the operating hour counter as well as information on the load suspended from the hook at any given time and the condition of the brakes. This enables the owner to respond to brake wear in good time for preventive maintenance purposes, for example; this benefit cuts maintenance costs and facilitates improved planning. The monitoring system can also be used to program other status parameters in the rope hoist electronic equipment.
Ergonomic operating elements with a display improve ease of operation and also offer greater transparency, by referring to maintenance cycles and providing a warning if the permissible load capacity is exceeded, for example. Thanks to plug-in connections and documentation tailored to the installation, the DR rope hoist can be installed and commissioned with ease.
