Demag Cranes & Components exhibits at two trade fairs LogiMAT, Stuttgart and Intec, Leipzig

Demag Cranes & Components will again be present at the LogiMAT and Intec trade fairs this year. The company will provide a broad overview of materials handling solutions and ergonomic load handling systems in Stuttgart and Leipzig.

The focus of the trade fair exhibits will be on the foot-mounted variant of the DR rope hoist range. This stand-alone solution can be employed virtually anywhere. The combination of four mounting positions with various rope lead-off arrangements makes it possible to implement tailored solutions beyond the scope of crane applications. With its compact design, a load capacity range in the small series of between 3.2 and 12.5 tonnes and rope lengths of up to 20 m, the FDR foot hoist offers tailored solutions to meet a wide range of customer requirements. The large DR series completes the load capacity range up to 50 tonnes as a series hoist unit.

The DR 5 and DR 10 rope hoist ranges have been extended to include increased load capacities. Hoisting capacities of 6.3 t for the DR 5 and 12.5 t for the DR 10 now provide for additional fields of application. The new sizes have been fully integrated into the system and can be specified online using the Crane Designer configuration tool.

These new types also provide the full benefits of the DR rope hoist range:

- More than 20 percent higher handling rates make crane installations more efficient

- Increased service life with FEM classification 2m+ puts the required general overhaul back by approx. 2 years

- Infinitely variable travel speeds thanks to integrated frequency inverters reduce peak loads on the entire installation and the crane runway system

- Monitoring systems integrated as standard provide a transparent overview of the installation and assist in preventive maintenance

Another focus of the exhibits presented by Demag Cranes & Components includes various ergonomic load handling solutions. The central theme of the solutions shown is the modular light crane in steel and aluminium from the KBK construction kit system. The company offers the matching DC-Pro chain hoist with a wide range of series features as standard. The all-inclusive scope includes higher performance, a monitored brake-coupling system, two hoist speeds and a diagnostics interface. The DC-Pro also features outstanding ease of operation and maintenance. The DC-Com chain hoist, a basic version designed for applications with normal requirements, will also be exhibited.

A further highlight at Logimat and Intec 2008 is the variable speed DCS-Pro chain hoist.

Thanks to its increased load capacity, valuable and sensitive loads weighing up to 2.5 t can be positioned gently and precisely. Some of the benefits of the DCS-Pro at a glance:

-  Infinitely variable lifting and lowering motions over the entire load range

- Maximised handling rate thanks to Pro-Hub function for up to 90 % higher nominal speed for partial load or no-load operation

- Improved safety standards thanks to 24 V control voltage and operating limit switches

- Effective cut-off on overload thanks to speed-monitored slipping clutch

In addition, Demag Cranes & Components is also showing further examples of efficient load handling. Examples include the ergonomically designed rocker switch for single-handed operation of Demag chain hoists and DRC-DC and DRC-MP radio remote controls. Furthermore, the D-SH Speedhoist for very fast load handling can also be seen in action in Stuttgart and Leipzig.

A new item in the DC chain hoist product range is the KDC low-headroom travelling hoist design for the DC-Pro, DCS-Pro and DC-Com product ranges.

Expertise for travel applications: As a specialist for drive applications, Demag Cranes & Components presents its matching components from the modular industrial drives system. A powered door with Demag drives, wheel blocks and frequency inverters is shown.

Logimat is being held in Stuttgart from 19 – 21 February 2008. As a trade fair dedicated to distribution, material and information flow products, it will be held for the first time at the new exhibition centre at the airport. With annual growth of some 20 percent and an exhibition area measuring 31,500 square metres, it is now one of the most important trade shows for intralogistics.

Intec is the 11th Trade Fair for Manufacturing, Tool and Special-purpose Machine Construction. It is being held at the exhibition centre in Leipzig from 26 – 29 February 2008.
